Does this look like a disabled parking space to you? |
- The sign on the post is too high to notice, and blue, designed NOT to be noticed. Other signs in the UK have ORANGE marking on the sign so it doesn't look just like a normal parking sign.
- The yellow graphic on the ground is almost completely invisible - compare this with the Safeway picture below - bright orange, and bright orange hashes too.
- The white lines on the ground have been replace, but NOT the yellow graphic - making it even less noticeable.
When my partner reported this to Sefton Council by phone they promised to consider it and call us back - they never did. We paid up, rather than face doubling of the fine whilst the council considered things.
Now, over two years later I am still smarting enough to be bothered about this - so will email the council shortly to see what they have to say for themselves - and contact my bank and I think I can dispute the payment.
Wish me luck ...

ReplyDeleteHi
I wonder if you could take a look at my case - parking in a disabled parking bay that was inadequately signed - 3rd May 2008 - around 3:30pm. The photograph was taken about an hour later when I returned to the car park at Maghull Square - and note that when I returned I noticed similar inadequately signed spaces being parked in by people without disabled badges that were blisfully unaware that they had just parked in a disable bay. I wonder how many others have had similar experiences?
We paid up because we didn't want any hassle - but still consider this unfair and now want our money back.
Here's the story: http://sharppractice.blogspot.com/2010/11/sefton-council-parking-fine.html
And I've attached a picture of my blog posting in case your systems don't allow you to go to blogspot.com - as well as a photo of the disabled bay.
Yours hopefully
