ASDA 125% MORE EXPENSIVE!!!

ASDA's 10% claim doesn't work ...... at least not for me, and believe me, I'm careful.  I entered my receipt into the www.asda.com\priceguarantee and I got the message opposite.  Below is the bit of my original receipt that their site claims 'does not have 8 items' or whatever ... can they not count?  Or could it be that I've broken the system?

Here are the items I wanted at 10% less than Morrisons were selling them:

Item
ASDA Price
Morrisons
Percentage difference
Sugar
68p
49p
+39%
Jam
84p
57p
+47%
Shreddies
£2.68
£1.19
+125%

The 125% is the hike for the Shreddies.   Shocking!?  I'll report, probably to Andy Clarke, who said recently:
'From today our price promise is backed by a copper-bottomed guarantee - if the basket of food you buy in our stores is not at least 10% than each of our major rivals, we'll put our hand in our pocket and give you back the difference.'
Andy Clarke, CEO ASDA
... and then I'll update here.

  1. REPLY FROM ASDA - now I think I need Trading Standard involved?

    Hi David

I've seen on a recent blog you've posted that you had an issue comparing your shopping on our price guarantee.

I've now had a look into this from the information you provided.

The reason we were unable to compare your shopping is because there are only 7 different comparable items on your shopping list. As explained in our terms and conditions, we don't compare reduced/whoops items. This can be found under point 4 at www.asdapriceguarantee.co.uk/Administration/Terms-And-Conditions.aspx

I hope you're able to use our guarantee in the future and if you have any further queries please let me know.

    Regards
